| Letter to Carol Carol, The dictionary explains a sigh as "exhaling audibly in a long, deep breath, as from sorrow, weariness, or relief. To feel yearning, longing or grief. To express with audible exhalation." While I agree that we sigh when we feel sorrow, weariness, relief, yearning, longing, or grief...I don't much agree with the explanation of a sigh, other than the 'long deep breath.' Science often sounds ridiculous trying to explain that that need no explanation. Not to mention how ridiculous science sounds explaning the things that are there...but can't be seen. I think that a sigh is the plateau of balance in the world. When we breath, we inhale the world around us...be it emotion or fragrance. When we exhale, our soul sorts out what we need to keep within us, and then on a moment to moment basis, it releases the emotions we don't need. When we are in need of an emotion, we build them up with every breath until we have our need of them. When we no longer need those emotions living inside of us, we cry. Could be from joy, could be from grief. Or...if we don't feel complelled...we simply don't cry. At at those moments you can feel the breath clinging to the emotions and pressing against your chest. Our bodies intelligence says, "Release!" At that moment, our soul reaches deep down in our bodies and collects whatever we do not need anymore, and releases with a sensation of momentary bliss. When it is released...at that very moment of the sigh...there is proof of balance in the world. Because somewhere, someone else was in need of the same emotion you were just in abundance of...and they at that very moment happen to be inhaling as they every moment do. That's just my imagination running amuck. *laugh* Here's a question for you that just wandered into my thoughts... Can't wait to see you, Amarie Darvai |
