"ON THE BREATH"

Learning to work "On the Breath" creates a joyful, reliable, physically based acting technique that gives rise to spontaneous, imaginative and exciting actors who draw their strength from the text through the breath. Using both exercises and scene study, we aim to promote understanding of and practical techniques for freeing and integrating the emotional, physical and vocal instruments of the actor by:

*Developing a character through sensitivity to the meaning, the language, the music and the style of the text
*Deepening emotional expression
*Listening
*Focusing, centering, grounding
*Acquiring professional work ethics and artistic discipline
*Transforming nerves, anxieties and stage fright into positive creative energy
*Accessing entry into the unconscious, expanding the actor's imagination
*Experiencing the communal and spiritual aspects of the actor's art

Commitment to both of the weekend workshops is requested but not required. Class size is limited.

FEES: Each weekend workshop is $300, ($600 total for both). Commitment to both of the weekend workshops is asked but not required. Payment can be made in separate installments for each weekend. No refunds unless you get an acting job that conflicts with workshop. (Save $25 by paying for workshops at least 3 weeks in advance of start dates or if you are an Actors' Center member.)

LOCATION: Workshops will be held in Potomac, MD.
